What is the two-way effect?
Compared to the one-way effect, the two-way effect describes not only a shape memory in the warm state, but also in the cold state. This is a prerequisite for many applications, since the shape memory effect is to be used not only once, but several times or cyclically, if necessary even over 1 million cycles. In order to achieve shape memory even in the cold state, mechanical stresses are required which can be applied either in the material itself ( intrinsic two-way effect) or by external loads ( extrinsic two-way effect).
