Binary NiTi

What is Binary NiTi (Nickel-Titanium)?

Shape memory alloys (SMA) based on nickel and titanium are superior in their superiority over other types of shape memory alloys (SMA). When no other alloying elements are added, the alloy is binary NiTi (nickel-titanium). Binary NiTi (nickel-titanium) is the simplest and also the most widely used form of shape memory alloy (SMA).
Nevertheless, binary NiTi is capable of covering a wide range of transformation temperatures. This is due to the individual change in the ratio of nickel and titanium to each other.

Ratio of nickel and titanium

Even the smallest changes in the composition ratio of nickel and titanium affect the behavior of the shape memory alloy (SMA). Especially the mechanical behavior as well as the transformation temperatures are altered by changing the ratio of nickel and titanium. Hence, binary NiTi offers a wide range of possibilities for optimally adjusting the SMA functional material with the desired area of application and the associated industry.
