Ingpuls – History
Founded in 2009 as a spin-off to the Institute for Materials of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Ingpuls is now the only SMA manufacturer in Germany with the entire vertical manufacturing range from raw materials to finished components.
In addition to production, the work as a development service provider is particularly important, as it offsets any lack of SMA know-how in the development departments of potential users. This model has been implemented very successfully in recent years. The result has been that unique SMAs have been produced in Bochum since the end of 2016 for large automotive series in the world. Ingpuls is known as experts of SMA materials.

In 2025, Ingpuls will receive the Top Company Employer award from the employer review platform kununu for the fourth year in a row. The Top Company seal recognizes companies with high employee satisfaction based on independent reviews submitted by employees on the kununu platform.

Ingpuls has entered into strategic partnerships with Stenzhorn, Nanoval, EQE/Ornot, and the Bender Group to expand its portfolio in the field of shape memory alloys. The focus is on new wire and powder technologies for medical technology, actuators, and additive manufacturing, as well as innovative valve and safety systems.

Together with brandgroup, Ingpuls founds a joint venture: the Ingpuls Dynamics GmbH, based in Bochum. Ingpuls Dynamics comprises the development and manufacture of SMA actuator components, assemblies and systems and creates added value for joint customers through vertical integration.

Ingpuls founds the spin off Ingpuls Smart Shadings. Based on shape memory alloys, Ingpuls Smart Shadings develops intelligent shading solutions, applicable in modern buildings, public spaces or private buildings. The smart solutions combine an elegant and slim design with a silent and energy-efficient drive.

Ingpuls establishes a joint venture together with Resonetics: Ingpuls Medical GmbH plans to develop and produce high-quality nitinol tubes, wires, sheets and powders for the medical technology industry.
